New House, Frodsham, Cheshire

This case study looks at the installation of the Rustique System in a new house project in the Cheshire village of Frodsham.

Rustique Screed has proven incredibly popular over the last 12 months and has continued to develop to fill its unique market niche. Offering a very much in vogue architectural, industrial finish and being the only flowing screed in the market to offer all of the benefits of anhydrite screed as well as being a completed finished floor it is both beautiful to look at and extremely easy on the pocket. The Rustique system is also incredibly fast track offering a finished floor just 28 days after installation of the original screed so can help speed up the build process incredibly. It has been incorporated into both commercial and domestic projects throughout the UK and Ireland so suits all ends of the construction scale.

In this project we see a brand new modern house built in the delightful market town of Frodsham in Cheshire. The screed was manufactured and supplied by Cemex from their Haydock Plant and installed by the Robinson Group Ltd. Robinsons have installed many normal Gypsol screeds in recent months and have a wide experience with anhydrite in general. They were delighted when we could offer them a screed which was not only fast to install and easy to finish but would allow them to offer time and cost savings to their client.

The screed was installed and then allowed to set and dry for a period of 28 days before being sanded, in this instance to offer an exposed aggregate finish. A minimum of two coats of Rustique sealer, SIKAFLOOR 2540w, is normally applied but in this instance, and because the material proves so cost effective, three coats were applied. This offers a clear, semi gloss, wearing surface to the screed which is extremely hard wearing and durable and incredibly resistant to staining. It is also easy to maintain with most user opting for a simple semi dry cleaning regime with a mop and soapy water.

Both the main contractor, Stepping Stone Group and the end client were elated to receive such a “beautiful and unique” floor.
