It has been a very busy year for Aggregate Industries which has provided their Highflow liquid screeds to many projects all over Central Scotland. Highflow liquid screed is manufactured by Aggregate Industries using Gypsol binder from Francis Flower Ltd. One of their major projects has been to supply Highflow Screed to a number of major retirement complexes and apartment schemes constructed by McCarthy & Stone.
This particular project was successfully supplied from a brand new Aggregate Industries manufacturing facility at North Leith. Ortus Homes by McCarthy & Stone constructed these premium apartments designed exclusively for the over 55s in the beautiful Scottish capital of Edinburgh. This flagship development on Murrayfield Drive offers a stunning combination of 16 elegant conversions and contemporary new build apartments, all of which have been intelligently designed to offer attractive, spacious interiors with the finest furnishings and complete with underfloor heating.
Gary Izatt, Site Manager for McCarthy & Stone spoke with Daniel Gordon, Technical and Specifications Manager for Gypsol throughout Scotland Ireland and North East England. Gary said that it was important to the design that the heating system was not only comfortable but also responsive and efficient in order to meet the physical needs of the end users and the financial needs of the project. Gyspol screeds can offer a much more responsive and efficient underfloor heating system than more traditional materials such as concretes and sand cement screeds allowing greater heat output from lower energy input. Gary confirmed the apartments were to include an ultra modern all electric heating system and selected Gypsol screed to maximise efficiency and improve living conditions for the owners in these properties.
